The course length is average, 6,445 yards, with 4 par 5s, 2 of which are less than 500 yards. It has a par of 72. The palm trees and wooden bulkheads supporting the edges of many of the greens are similar to TPC Sawgrass, a famous course also located in Florida that has hosted numerous major championships. The greens are surfaced with Emerald Dwarf Bermuda grass, the same as TPC Sawgrass as well. Surprisingly enough, the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club is a municipal course. It is expertly groomed however, and challenging to even the veteran golfer. This being said, it can be overly frustrating for the novice golfer. There is a great deal of water in play that gives the course its signature beauty, but can become bothersome. These hazards can have golfers reaching for their last ball at the bottom of the bag by the end of the day. Golfers can always buy more balls, however, with the money they save on the club’s bargain rates.

The Jacksonville Beach Golf Club isn't located directly on the beach, but it is just blocks from it. Seamlessly woven into Jacksonville's streets, the club offers the feeling of a getaway without having to take a distant drive. The course was designed by none other than Sam Snead (the PGA Tour's all-time victory leader with 82 wins), and the professional touch is undeniable.
